The owners of this house in Naples, FL loved their neighborhood. But the house – not so much. It was dark and dated and everything was closed off. They had grand visions of opening the interior, creating more room in their boys bedrooms and finally having a laundry room worth spending so much time in.
The only thing left untouched in this house was the pool. The interior was completely gutted. A front porch with steel columns was added to the front. In one of the bedrooms, a bump-out was built to create a platform for a queen size bed, creating plenty of room to play and grow. An oversized laundry room was added onto the other side of the house and the sun room was enclosed to add additional living square footage.
Both of the guest bedrooms feature build in book cases. The floors are hand scrapped wood floors. The new open interior features plenty of light and exposed beams. The kitchen features inset kitchen cabinets from Starkmark with hand-stressed details and a custom built island that can be moved to accommodate cooking or entertaining. The laundry room cabinets were custom built from a photo provided by the owner.
The old vinyl siding was replaced with board & batten and stacked stone. The roof line had to be cut back in multiple places to allow for the placement of new trusses for the additions. The new metal roof gives it a seamless, clean look as if the additions had always been there.
